Belmond, the operator of the VSOE, also runs The British Pullman in the UK. This too is a very luxurious train with excellent service. They even have a carriage designed by Wes Anderson. It is day trips only without private rooms. If you have not taken any ultra high end train trips, you might want to consider doing this first to determine if you are “train people”.
Just today I got off The Canadian on a Vancouver to Toronto trip. This is not an ultra luxury train, but it does have Prestige Class that has only 6 rooms per carriage and each “suite” has a private toilet and separate shower. Even so, many of the people I have met who had no experience with train travel were disappointed with the size of the rooms.
The “problem” with a train trip that lasts 1 night and is “quite the party” means you will barely use your $30,000 room.
