I must say that I find LGW a far superior offering to any of BA's other bases. The security - even at the start of school holidays - is always done within minutes, and the lounge offering is a significant step above LHR.

This of course assumes status, where fast track and lounge offering is a neat perk.

That said, I must say even U2 at LGW is a breeze... .

According to myflightradar24 I've done nearly 60 flights from Gatwick and not one so long as I recall was delayed, and more importantly not once I recall any delay in security even during the drone escapade!

But YMMV!
