Flight to High Speed Rail

I am flying Eva Air from Paris to Taipei and then catching the High-Speed Rail to Tainan where I plan to spend two nights before returning to Taipei.

I am an absolute novice to train travel in Taiwan and have some very basic questions that I'd be grateful with some help with.

I am planning to buy a first class ticket. Do I go with just an ordinary round trip ticket or is a pass for foreigners better?

Should I book a specific train or should I buy a ticket with no preassigned train and just show up ?

I understand I actually don't get the ticket when I reserve online - I will need to go to a ticket counter to get an actual ticket?

I need to take a separate train from the airport to the nearby HSR station ? Is that an easy process? Do I deal with getting the ticket for the whole journey at the airport station or the HSR station?

What would you consider a reasonable time to pl. on from landing to taking the HSR ?

Is luggage going to be any issue ? I will be traveling with a checked bag and a carry-on. Again, I plan to be traveling in first class.

Thank again for all your help.
