For next time...when you have an interline baggage transfer of this nature it's wise to double check the bags are loaded at the transfer point. I would go to the transfer desk or gate staff, show the tags and ask them to confirm the bags have been or will be loaded. There is often a reconciliation or loading process that needs to be triggered by a human (I don't know the technicalities, sadly ) .
Good tip as I didn't know about the manual process. Although my wife tells me that she did in-fact ask the staff at the gate prior to boarding who were very rude and snappy towards her when asking but did eventually tell her that the bag was loaded. So doesn't seem to be a sure-fire way to confirm...
