We understood a replacement pilot was found and that was why they checked us all in. Did BA later decide there was an issue with the replacement pilot? Also what was the reason for stopping in Madrid, was that due to pilot hours maybe?
I think you have the best information already. But the reason for the MAD would have been connected with the available pilot coverage for the whole sector and the limits of where 2 pilots could go without a third one on the flight deck. It is eligible for an EC261 claim.
