I made a Delta booking with Virgin points and checkout screen also said free 1st checked bag. Today when I checked in, I was informed checked bag was $35 each way. I called Virgin immediately and they confirmed that checked bag was not free. I explained the checkout screen (I even had a screen shot saying "fare code YSM110 up to 1 piece of checked baggage"), but agent said there was nothing she could do. "Usually flights in America don't have checked bag".

Most likely Virgin's trash IT department only made the checkout screen for their own flights and didn't update it for Delta. To me this is blatant false advertising on Virgin's part. But what are you going to do, sue them for $70? sigh..
