I've been on FT for over 20 years (whoa!) dating back to when I was a broke college student. Now I'm 42 years old, live in Virginia and work in finance for a large NYC based company (FP&A to be exact). Divorced with 2 young kids.
I got into the miles & points game back in 2004, when Bank of America had a US Airways credit card offer that gave elite status after a certain level of spend. I've probably opened and closed 20 or 30 credit cards since then for the sign up bonuses.
I had US/AA elite status for many years, but since 2022 have been a "free agent." 95% of my flying is for business, and my time is more valuable than getting the miles now, so I tend to fly whichever airline has the best nonstop options to my destination.
I hope to make another FT DO sometime in the coming year or two - I've been divorced for about a year so am still getting used to all the extra free time I have when I'm not working or with my kids!
