Because the greater the sample, the more it will resemble the "historical expectation" and thus the more likely it is that everyone will get what they want regardless of where they are sat. By contrast, if you are on a very lightly loaded cabin like yours, on the other hand, it just takes two people to want the full English and there won't be any left if that was the entire load.

In your case, that will undoubtedly have been the only option not to be available by the time you placed your order. Your choices would have been the other two - the charcuterie platter or the vegetarian breakfast (normally some omelette or frittata of sorts). It so happened that you really only wanted the English breakfast and you can of course complain that you didn't get it, but to be honest, I doubt that BA will have much sympathy as just one of the options not being available is not typically something I'd expect them to view as a service failure.

I agree with KARFA you would be best off leaving the question of your egg allergy/intolerance out of it. You seemed offended by his question, but to be honest, when people read (summarised): "I'm unhappy because I couldn't get the English breakfast but only the charcuterie plate. I am allergic to eggs" they will ponder to understand why you complain about getting the only option fully compatible with your dietary restrictions. In many ways, "I'm unhappy because I couldn't get the charcuterie plate and I am allergic to eggs" would seem more intuitive. So no, this is not about questioning why you preferred bacon and sausage (small and singular) to prosciutto and tomato, it is entirely your right, but basically why you bring the allergy issue in the discussion whilst it simply seems to confuse your point which is that you wanted an English breakfast and it wasn't available.
I think you’re confusing two different posts. BA have recovered the situation so we don’t need to go there again but the issue wasn’t an egg allergy. I have no stomach - it was removed. I have certain restrictions on what I can eat and what I need to eat to keep everything in balance. I can eat protein - like sausage, egg and mushrooms. I need to eat small amounts throughout the day. None of that is relevant here but it means my diet has limitations but a need for calories of a specific type. Someone else has summarized the condition perfectly elsewhere but your summary in quotes is not reflective of the position here. There is no special meal that BA offer that works.

I too would normally grab something in the lounge. I have explained why I couldn’t. I can’t eat croissants or bread because of the risks of hypoglycemia because of the gastrectomy and so Pret was not an option.

Your concluding sentence is a little offensive considering the detail in this thread. I didn’t bring an allergy into the discussion, somebody else did. I just can’t digest eggs. As for the charcuterie plate, because of the way my digestive system was plumbed I have issues with bile reflux which is exacerbated with spiced meats. I’m not sure why you want to go down this route about analyzing what I should or could have done without knowing the first thing about me. The simple issue was I could have eaten the English breakfast minus the egg but couldn’t eat the other two options. I would normally eat in the lounge but couldn’t. I therefore was expecting to take on some food onboard but couldn’t.

Having lost 7 stone since my stomach was removed (I now weigh just 7 stone) listening to people trying to solutionise a problem they know nothing about and telling me that my choices were in some way unreasonable is not really on. I don’t want this thread to get out of hand but we really shouldn’t be looking to view whether my preferences for breakfast were the same as yours when my physiological changes mean they weren’t.

As I said elsewhere, I don’t want this thread to get out of control discussing hypotheticals. The IFL and BA recovered the situation having understood the position. I’m not sure it’s helpful suggesting we (me, the IFL, and BA) were wrong or I could have taken another option. Don’t want to create animosity on here but please don’t jump to conclusions based on mistaken assumptions.
