My GUESS is that the amount they want to charge is the difference between what you paid then and what it costs now in PE - even though you are downgrading. Alternatively the available eco fare buckets are only in the higher YBH buckets.

But just show the extra cost to whoever wants you to downgrade and likely you will get to keep your PE ticket.
