There may have been a recent change in the same day standby benefit at no charge?

I know in the past this was documented at ual.com, however that wording seems to have been removed.

I know that in December, 2004 I was able to standby for an earlier domestic flight, with no checked bags and without additional fee. For those times where I have asked at check-in, I have always received a boarding pass for my original flight and a DM card for the earlier flight. Then the gate agent clears the DM list acording to those procedures. Sometimes I do not even ask at check-in but rather wait to ask at the gate.

I have seen several posts where people mention that this is no longer possible without paying a fee ($100, fare dependent).

I think the relevant profile is S*FAR/STANDBY?
