My family of four is travelling JFK-SIN on Singapore Airlines, then connecting on AirAsia to Langkawi. Tickets are being purchased separately. We plan to bring 4 carry-on suitcases and 4 backpacks. But now looking at Air Asia website there is a crazy carry-on weight limit of just 7KGs which is like 15 pounds. Obviously a carry-on suitcase and backpack will be far greater then that.
It seems there is no way around this and we need to check luggage? If so, do we need to exit SIN airport and process through immigration to check bags with Air Asia counter or is there any way to do it in-transit?
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but 7kg is the limit on many Full service airlines.... outside the USA at least.
