I have a partner award flight booked on JAL via AA and am seeing if it's possible to cancel just one leg. Online it only seems to give the option of cancelling the whole trip. Presuming I could call in to AA to do this?
Also this is partly because I saw a deeply discounted flight on Hawaiian but as far as I can tell Hawaiian would NOT honor AA status when booked thru AS, at least until it's fully merged with AS as a single airline?

In theory this is possible, however many agents nowadays will insist that no changes are possible even on partner awards. You will most likely have to HUCA, maybe several times.
