The agent was very helpful but had to go off the call for a while to check he was able to upgrade me 2 classes which he was and completed both transactions on the phone. Overall seems a good deal as the cash fares are £4k+.

I wanted to ask though if I’ll receive tier points for upper class ie. 100 each way as need to plan to try and retain silver going forward given it doubles the voucher value from 75k to 150k. I read on some threads it might be the original booking class (econ) that you are rewarded on, which would be disappointing as I wanted upper class from the get go, but this is how Virgin choose to transact it. Is there somewhere in my booking that confirms Tier points to be earnt as couldn’t find it in my email confirmation.
I had no idea you could do a two class upgrade. You’re not supposed to be able to do that.

Anyway, yes you will get the tier points for upper.
You can easily check by looking at your reservation details (usually under passenger info) that your booking code is G. Then you can look on the virgin tier points earning table and see that G earns 100 points each way. I have used the voucher to upgrade from premium to upper class many times, and I always get the 100 points each way.
