I now use both a 4 wheel "fat clam shell" (2/3 + 1/3 opening rather than 1/2 + 1/2) and a two wheel Osprey. I can see the +/- of both and vary based on my trip.
Amazon sells cheap packable extra large duffle bags that gold up and can accept a checked bag into. Besides that, if you have extra stuff to bring home you can put that in it too along with your Tumi or Briggs. And it keeps your luggage from getting dirty and nobody wants an Amazon bag.
