As posters mentioned before, your request to get the fare difference might have surprised BA.
Unless your ticket is from a non-EU/UK country to a non-EU/UK country, you are owed by law 75% of the downgraded segment.
That is what you should have claimed.
The fare difference F-J is always controversial as the airline can arbitrarily pick some high J fare.
