Sorry for the confusion! I worded my post weirdly. I was a regular member for nearly a decade (Select 3 mi/$). I never had VIP status with AA. I recently logged in and saw all the restaurants showing 1 mi instead of 3 mi so assumed it was a deval. I forgot about the email requirement! I must have clicked unsubscribe at some point bc my emails were turned off it showed me as a Basic 1 mi/$ member. The moment I resubbed to emails, it updated to 3 mi. They play so many games (diff earn rates based on day or week, dine on/out, etc.) it wasn't surprising to see a deval overnight.
