It's not a silly use of 241s if it works for you. Your OP said you have a decent number of Avios that you have no use for. If you don't use the 241s you may then still have a healthy Avios balance after booking, but then also 2x 241s you have no use for, and not as many Avios to use them with...
Unless you see yourself probably using the 241s on something else in the future, burning them now to save Avios isn't a waste. It might not be the optimal use, but if you don't have another possible use for them, why not?
