Hi both,

sorry for the ambiguity, on both counts.

there are 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 children (both over 2)

yes indeed, we would need London to Rome then NY to London.

my assumption was that the best strategy was just to lay cash for one way flights to Rome…then use one way reward flights home from NY.

my main question is/was…is this a silly use of 2-4-1’s? I did dummy booking and 4 reward flights in J would be 320k avios and £750 which seems very reasonable, even without using the voucher.

but, am I going crazy as I did the same for F and the cost was 272k avios and £3,329….i expected a lower avios cost here but are those taxes/fees correct for 4 passengers one way?? I was expecting half that!! And iirc use of a 2-4-1 wouldnt lower the fee, is that correct?

My wife and I are on a reward 2-4-1 return F LHR-NY next month and the return cost is £1700

so I guess I just want someone to sense check me…unless I’m incorrect about the F fees, it seems J is the no brainer option and it’s about whether it’s worth using the 2-4-1’s to lower the avios cost from 320k, is that about the end of it?
