I should also add on my recent 12+ hour flight ex-Oz, people around me were not happy when they were told there would be no Wi-Fi (Viasat-equipped aircraft). To his credit, I was impressed with how much the FA knew about the details of the situation (rather than just a superficial and dismissive "yeah it doesn't work yet"), but I would suppose the ones who fly that route often are used to it. I do think that passengers have a legitimate gripe at this point on both the speed of the domestic rollout and Viasat service over the Pacific issues, given how heavily it has been marketed and promoted.
