Advice for cruise flights

Afternoon all,

We are considering booking a transatlantic cruise from Rome to NY in Oct 2026....and naturally i will need flights to/from London either side. I have a decent number of avios saved which i have no current use for and by that time I will have at least 1, likely 2x 2-4-1 vouchers to burn...my question is, whats the best use to avios and/or vouchers for this route.

If I understand the 2-4-1 rules correctly, i cant do this as an open jaw return because of the long distance between the ground segment...so i think the only way would be to burn the vouchers and avios on J/F one way reward flights, but is this a silly use of the vouchers and/or avios?

I know the keen points hounds amongst you will likely think im mad considering a one way reward flight, but im ok if this offsets the cost heavily and means we can travel in a bit more luxury or even add some extra days either side to explore Rome or NY with the kids.

I am somewhat familiar with rewards flights and 2-4-1 but being very boring we have simply used them to go to ANU to visity family most years so these more nuanced trips, and particularly with the long haul reward flight saver, im unfamiliar with best strategies, so any advice would be appreciated.

thanks in advance,
