as mentioned, this will depend on how soon we get to T3 (plus allowing plenty of time to get to the the high E gates where AS departs

As arrivals and departures are not mixed at LHR as they are in the US, upon arrival at LHR you would not be permitted with a T5 boarding pass to enter the departures area of T3.
You ‘re correct about them not being connected and certainly not easily accessible but if one wants to you can go between T3/T5 to access lounges. I did it once at least. It was quite a hassle though.
