Well, here goes. My bf and I spent a week at Turtle Cove 2 yrs ago at the end of December and loved it. I have to admit that I do not recall the above mentioned chalk board in the urinals, but then I think I just went back the room whenever I needed to take care of business. While there was certainly some "socialization" going on (there were, after all, about 40 gay men on vacation in bathing suits drinking every night!), I did not find it oppresive...nor did I feel the slightest pressure to participate in the socialization (and note that the person on here who mentions this "didn't stick around long enough to find out if this was the case at all actually"). Condoms in the nightstands at a secluded gay resort (no drugstores nearby!) and a hottub in a slightly secluded area hardly strike me as signs of an impending orgy. And yes there is a channel that shows some (rather bad) gay porn, just Hyatts and Sheratons all around the US have channels that show straight porn (the only difference is that at Turtle Cove you are not charged extra for watching!). If you ask me, it was all very laidback. We met some really nice people (and met up with a bunch in Sydney for New Years Eve). I recommend it highly.


It is, however, isolated. It is the only resort in the midst of a nature preserve. You will eat your meals and do most of your socializing there. If you want to be near other places to eat and go out, then by all means avoid Turtle Cove. If you want a place to relax and socialize with other gay men for a few days, check it out.
