Hello, I am circling back to this thread for some more clarification. Like I mentioned we arrive at 6:00AM from JFK-SIN--terminal 3 I think. We are not checking bags on that flight. However we have 4 roller bags we will check on the Air Asia flight at 10:45AM out of Terminal 4. We have already paid Air Asia to check the 4 bags.

No, you need to enter Singapore. All AirAsia knows is that you have a (separate) ticket originating in Singapore and departing from T4.
Gate checking is very much a US-only thing, most of the rest of the world operates differently.
In any case you'll need to enter Singapore to move between T3 and T4 - no way around that. See the process here:
