4. TRS-FRA Economy (K) EN8819

The ticket price for TRS-FRA was EUR104 and I spent EUR7 on the BoB menu for inflight catering.

I went to Trieste airport far too early but I was being cautious because of the problems I had experienced when arriving at Trieste airport. The half hour train journey was punctual and I was quickly in the small terminal building. Check-in and security were completed in minutes, leaving me a good two hours in the terminal. I had a panini in the one and only café there, forgetting that my Diners Club card would have got me into the lounge! As it happened, the flight turned out to be about 1 hour late, but waiting at Trieste airport was quite pleasant.

Air Dolomiti has changed it's logo and the new logo on the aircraft is somewhat more bland. However, the interior has a lovely light green colour scheme which is relaxing and refreshing at the same time. The flight attendants were genuinely friendly this time. I have always liked Air Dolomiti as a niche airline, but I had never actually landed on a welcoming crew, until today. After take-off there were amazing views over Friuli and the pre-Alps and I enjoyed the views of the south Austrian lakes and Alps. Once over the Alps the cloud cover was thick and we landed in the rain at Frankfurt. The onboard service has been reduced to a BoB offer in Economy class, but the range of products and quality were excellent. I ordered a Dolomiti craft Pilsner with a pack of nachos, and a Prosecco for my companion, which came to a total of EUR14, reasonable for the quality. I don't like the BoB concept, but I would gladly buy again from the Air Dolomiti onboard offer.

The entrance to Trieste airport is refreshingly blue, like the sky in Italy

The Air Dolomiti logo has changed and is now bland and lacking in character, like everything to do with Lufthansa

Standard seating on the Air Dolomiti Embraer 195

The landscape of northeast Italy was surprisingly green in early July

My selection from the inflight BoB menu, which is quite good on Air Dolomiti
