That's the thing though, I think that having the option to get something "extra" while having the basics covered for almost all pax - that being water, soda, coffee, some beer and/or wine - would strike good balance of the overall atmosphere still being service minded, but allowing for pax to get something more than current service can offer.
Particularly considering that the pre-order meals would not be sold on board, per se, just served.
