It is a big deal. You are paying for a service you are not getting. Airlines need to do better as the selection process. The additional screening has nothing to do with the TSA it is determined by the airline and their filling of quotas. Why would a US citizen, known to the TSA be SSS while a visitor is not? Makes not a lick of sense.
