Looking for a bit of a sense check on current thinking. Currently GGL (April ‘26) and can retain status under the new BA structure at a stretch but not sure I really want to. Planing on trying all viable alternatives between now and April
For context:
-based in UK with 90% of my flights being TATL or internal US flights with remainder being personal holidays & rare European business travel.
-Current frequency is once a month/6 weeks in J or E/T/W depending on how late I book.
-aim is to attain equivalent GGL status with new carrier but if no appealing option materialises, will likely go the free agent route and book with best value carrier.
I’m currently exploring ST as main alternative: status match to FB (missing the ultimate cutoff) and exploring Delta. I don’t have an issue flying TATL from AMS or CDG.
I don’t see many people considering Delta and wondering if I am missing something around switching to a US based based program whilst being UK based. Any thoughts appreciated on whether US based carriers are a less desirable option.
