Although I must say I could certainly see things from the POV of FB ULTIs. It got me to wondering if BA have ever offered any kind of status match to GGL? I suppose not.
Anyway, I got a nice email from FB today introducing me to the benefits of Platinum:
Platinum Service Line for personalized assistance
Complimentary access to Air France, KLM and SkyTeam partner lounges
SkyPriority services at the airport
Priority check-in and drop-off
Priority boarding
Two complimentary extra pieces of checked baggage
Complimentary premium newspaper downloads on the Air France Play app
Complimentary seating options with Air France and KLM
As I said before, I remain unconvinced that the status will be elevated any further but I would find the standard benefits (pretty comparable to OWE) useful enough that they are well-worth the £99 for some AF/KLM flights that I am now booking direct from EDI.
does seem to be one person in particular who is upset on the FB forum, the rest seem very level headed about an inrush of GGL refugees. Like you have now booked a number of KL flights that would have gone to BA previously, I will see how things pan out with GGL over the coming year to see if the benefits improve to a level where its worth the investment - luckily having GFL makes GGL a choice not a necessity although I will miss the Concorde Room
