You do realize that FF plans help keep airlines from price wars. Without loyal customers, they will go free agent to best price.
Revenue based schemes still incentivize loyalty and irrational purchase decisions. If you earn 7 miles per dollar and get a free bag with AS v 5 miles per dollar and no free bag on DL, you'd presumably lean towards AS.
Of course, during this transition period to revenue based FFPs, those that haven't converted yet are more attractive to certain customer types and can use this to some advantage in the short term, but they too will eventually cross the chasm.
