Worthwhile lounges accessible via credit card memberships follow a predictable trajectory:
1. Finally! A good use for my lounge access card. Great food and drink. Halleluiah!
2. What? There's a waiting list? I can't get in. Priority Pass actually has the lowest priority.
3. Now they are denying access half the day!
4. Horrors! They have devalued the food/beverage offerings.
5. They dropped out entirely and no longer accept any passes. They were useless anyway, so it's time to look for the next lounge startup.
I know of no US airport lounge that has defied this trajectory. Overseas there are some nice and accessible ones, such as Fiji Airways in Nadi.
Escape Lounge at OAK started accepting PP in June 2024. If any lounge will defy your posited trajectory, it will be this one. I can't see them going back to accepting only paid admissions and Amex Plat. I think they'll either keep going with PP, or close.
