(Edited to add) United.com does not mention Japan to Asia being eligible (similar to how the legacy NRT-BKK/HKG/SIN routes did not qualify), but does specifically say Japan-Philippines and Guam-Asia are both CPU eligible routes (so unsure whether Japan-Mongolia is an intentional ommission or not). Curious if anyone here has booked this route yet, and what United.com shows as far as upgrade eligibility?

I'd have to imagine that it's intended to be CPU eligible. Most routes that have at least one routinely scheduled non-lieflat premium seat marketed as business/first are CPU eligible. Leave it up to the FT community to find the exceptions.
