There was no expectation of 9AM check-in, which is why I said that it was not unexpected that the room was not ready. This is when we got there with an early flight, so it was purely an availability check before leaving bags with bell services. Never hurts to check in cases like this, but certainly no expectation.

I have gotten use of a room sometimes to shower and nap in if I took a redeye. (Not tried at this hotel though).
