Changes
Overall, I’m curious to how people feel about the new mileage plan terms and conditions and ways people are earning, I understand that there are some highlights, and a uniform mileage, earning chart across-the-board is probably to a lot of people’s benefit, but then again elites unless you are 100 K all got a downgrade on redeemable miles percentage bonus, and some of the other categories of classes seem to also be earning less miles than previously
actually, I just continue to find things that I’m not happy about with the new program more than anything that’s great, the greatest thing is if we can actually earn eqm on award tickets, of course, think about how much high mileage cheap tickets we can book, potentially even utilizing their global gateways to find even cheaper economy mileage rates that are far far away to rack up the most amount of EQM
by the way, why are people not talking about this, I think there is a major change with the 500 mile minimum, I don’t know, if I understood it correctly and please correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought in the past anything that was booked through Alaska Airlines website, whether it was flown with Alaska or with a partner as long as it was not in saver class then it was earning the 500 mile minimum.
in the past, I definitely had many American Airlines main cabin bookings booked and paid through American Airlines where the legs were definitely under 500 miles and Alaska Airlines even then credited me and maintained the 500 mile minimum that they guarantee, even when it was booked and ticketed with American or other partners. The question is, the whole 500 mile minimum terminology seems to be totally read from on the website and seems to be much more confusing to what will actually earn it. After talking to a very lovely customer care agent yesterday she also made it sound like maybe the 500 mile minimum we’ll start only applying to stuff booked and ticketed through Alaska Airlines, no longer stuff booked on American, and this all got brought up because I just flew some Bahamas airlines flights which posted at a whopping 82 miles, lol, what does 82 miles help me, especially when I was told I would for sure be receiving the 500 mile minimum even though that seems to all be false news..
Either way, curious to hear what other people think about the whole 500 mile minimum not being clearly stated on which partners actually will qualify for it, and whether any particular partner will have stipulations such as maybe it needs to be booked through Alaska to actually earn that minimum.
