When a pilot gets sick on a layover on a long haul flight they will fly a shorter leg with the remaining pilots and do a crew swap. If the pilots enter a write up for something as simple as windshield requiring cleaning then the flight had a technical issue, too. If the technical impacts the turn time at the recrew stop then it will make it into the delay codes.
Ah yes, no doubt about that.
But for the aforementioned flight in particular, I only meant that it may actually have been a single "thing" that happened initially (1h53m delay from X, as yet unknown); then the crew timeout and required recrew were a result of the delay; and then the system displayed it all as new crew and "technical issue". Maybe not, but I'm saying I don't think there's a way to know from only that message.
