If you clicked on the link to preorder your meal immediately after getting the e-mail, it's possible that you were a little less than a week away from the LAX-MSP flight, but a little more than a week away from the MSP-DCA flight. You cannot preorder until exactly a week before the flight, so if this is what happened, just waiting a couple of hours should fix it.
