The bypass road from the T-1 side of the horseshoe road dumps off at the far west end of T-7. As the driver turns left from the bypass, he can immediately pull to the curb, and pick you up (see suggested approximate spot, in the below screen capture). This is the best answer and how my husband and I generally pick each other up most of the time when the other is traveling.
I strongly suggest you look at Google Maps street view. Outside the terminal, it is just one long sidewalk connecting the terminals. The difference is that the Arrivals level tends to have more traffic and it has more curbs (the inner curbs next to the sidewalk attached to the building for LAX buses/shuttles, and the outer curb for rental cars, hotels, regular cars) and since it has more curbs, it has more traffic.
And the map is deceiving. It is only a couple of minutes walk. Each terminal in only a single concourse. They aren't a 1/2 mile apart. Again, look at street view and you will understand better.
