Had my original ticket been Asia-US, it would have cost more than Asia-US-Canada. In this case, with the cancellation of my final leg, what kind of refund should happen? If no refund, is there compensation?

Thank you in advance!
United will give you a partial refund reflecting the distance. Your refund will look something like the PQP you were supposed to earn for that last segment along with any Canadian arrival taxes.
