I flew Asia-US and was supposed to continue to Canada. Due to a delay, my connection to Canada was missed. United was unable to rebook me on another carrier (AC was sold out and they didn’t want to consider non-alliance members). But this query doesn’t focus on that. Here is my quesiton.
Had my original ticket been Asia-US, it would have cost more than Asia-US-Canada. In this case, with the cancellation of my final leg, what kind of refund should happen? If no refund, is there compensation?

United will give you a partial refund reflecting the distance. Your refund will look something like the PQP you were supposed to earn for that last segment along with any Canadian arrival taxes.
