As a person who makes ALL her reward bookings by individual night (to take advantage of price decreases), with the exception of 5 night reservations, I guess I never considered it a problem. As for NUAs, I never get more than 5 of those per year, so somehow I always manage to use those.
I was also under the impression that you don’t earn any points for the cash portion of a C&P booking, so never even considered it. Clearly, I never saw a value there that others did.
