Alaska 100K here... I booked a flight HNL-LIH-SEA as an award redemption through Alaska website. The first leg being on HA and the second being on AS. I was surprised when I arrived at HNL airport and booking agent demanded $40 baggage fee for the neighbor island flight. I've done the status match to Paulanai Platinum, but evidently when you book HA through Alaska, neither status counts! The agent treated me like complete trash.... yelled at me for going to the First Class line even though I was booked in first on LIH-HNL (airport was empty and that was only line that appeared to even have an agent).

Anyways, after arguing with agent for like 15 minutes and getting nowhere... i decided it wasn't worth the hassle. Canceled the flight and booked a direct flight HNL-SEA on Alaska. I really try not act like an entitled frequent flier, but they really need to get their act together on this merger. I really have no desire to fly Hawaiian again.
