But the thing is does AS WANT to hand you 10% discounted fares in markets they feel fine in compared to CA, where they're clearly having to do tricks like this to pump up demand? Or would they rather take a chance to sell those seats to someone who doesn't have a discounted giftcard + AA EP status to get free Y+, F upgrades and baggage (all of which are hurting their revenue opportunities)?
