Just came back from 5 nights at the The Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa. It was a very restful stay, which was its intent. We booked the most basic room using points, but as Titanium elite we were upgraded to a pool/ocean view room. The room was very nice, enough room to spread out. The bed was very comfortable, and housekeeping was very responsive. I did NOT have to request housekeeping everyday, as I do in most Marriott properties in the states. The room was cleaned early every morning. As Titanium Elite I was eligible for turn down service every evening. Coming back from dinner to a clean room with clean towels and a turned down bed, and closed curtains was refreshing. Many Marriott properties have given up turn down service!
I initially had a problem connecting my multiple devices ( 2 phones and an iPad) to the internet so I was given a phone number for technical support. Tech support connected all my devices for the entire length of my stay, which was great!!
Prior to the trip I wrote for information concerning several issues. Poppy Holt, Westin Experience Specialist, responded very quickly to my many emails, and was very detailed in her responses. She was great. We met her when we checked in and she was so sweet, friendly and accommodating.
We chose the Westin over the Ritz because my husband loves breakfast buffets and the Westin provides breakfast vouchers for Titanium Elites. The breakfast did not disappoint. From omelettes to smoked salmon to cereal and pastries. The food was good. The staff was accommodating to our needs. One day I chose NOT to eat breakfast at the hotel but asked if I could take my breakfast with me. This is technically not allowed, but our server, who we had several times before, brought me a box to pack up what I wanted.
The staff was friendly and accommodating around the pool and beach. We never really had to wait to be served. Our first night we were chatting with one of the Beach Ambassadors (that's what they are called) about coming down and "claiming" chaises. He recommended taking towels the night before, if we planned to be there before 7AM when the towel hut opened. That worked very well as my husband is a very early risers and went down way earlier than 7AM. There really was not problem getting a chaise, it's just we wanted the first row looking out onto the ocean. I took the beach yoga class every morning and the instructors were great.
Usually a pet peeve of mine is waiting for the elevators, but not here. The elevators were fast and efficient. The hotel is situated a ways down 7 mile beach so we took cabs to several of the restaurants for dinner. As we are walkers, we walked back from all of the restaurants including the ones that were 1.5 miles away. We felt safe. All in all it was a great stay. I would highly recommend the Westin.
