The process took about 45 mins though. The agent found the award space but insisted on charging a 50 USD fee to issue the ticket, and kept directing me to book on the website to save on the fee, but the website kept showing an error. In the end, she put me on hold for 15 mins to check the website (and she found the same error), and then contacted her supervisor, and finally agreed to waive the issuing fee of 50 USD and book the ticket successfully.
I'm thinking on putting into the JAL feedback form about the problem with booking partner awards on their website. Hopefully, this issue can be resolved to save this trouble next time booking award tickets.
