Based on the Globalist terms if a standard suite is available then they have to upgrade you. Am I missing something? I've stayed in Hyatts all over the world and I've never had a time where I didn't get a suite if it wasn't available.
Are you sure that stingy with upgrades doesn't just mean they were near capacity?

Anyway, I love it here obviously. And the service is excellent and aside from the stinginess on upgrades, they treat me exceptionally well.
1) they made special drinks at pool for us and remembered our preference. This especially was cool for little one
2) they give me berries special in the morning
3) they made broccoli special for us
4) they were ready to stretch me at gym even though staff new
5) I had a big public event happen to me professionally since my last visit - so far 8 different staff members from gm to server at breakfast congratulated me on the event.
6) they remembered all of our various meal and drink preferences.
7) gave extra water in room
While they are stingy on upgrades, they do provide a great service for all people too - like suntan lotion at pools and free water at pools. So they are not stingy to regular guests, just on upgrades to us globalists who might've been spoiled at other properties.
Overall, this is one of my favorite properties in Hyatt. Just be prepared for lack of upgrades
