I got a notice of the waiver for my PHL-IAH-LAX flights on Wednesday. I was a bit surprised (nicely!) that the waiver was issued so early. But, the forecast for Wednesday looks pretty clear (but cold). I would prefer not to change unless it seems like likely that one or both of my flights would cancel. Any insight from the locals would be appreciated!
With the announcement that IAH will be closed on Tuesday, I would absolutely avoid IAH on Wednesday. Not only is there a greater than usual chance of a cancelation — UA may not be able to get its staff to the airport to operate flights — but they’re going to have an entire day’s worth of O&D passengers to try to re-accommodate. IAH will likely be a zoo even in the best case.
Think of it as generating karma by freeing up two seats for IAH O&D passengers to use.
