I did confirm PE availability on other carriers. If you do not see a KIX-HND connection it may be that the connecting flight does not have 4 awards available on that day. Try confirming with BA, searching HNL-HND. If you find 4 PE available HNL-KIX then it should be available on Alaska. When I tried multi-city it mis-priced the journey, but if you can confirm availability, like on ba.com for the married journey you might be able to call in and book it. Note: I do not think AA shows JL PE availability so don't use them to search for PE.

I do not know about a correlation between cash fares and award availability. Conventional wisdom for other airlines says there is no correlation.
