Have they changed the BE SWU policy again? I tried for a friend with no status and was told by an EP desk agent that it was only possible for a person with status to use a SWU on a BE ticket. I already had a J award seat booked BOS-LHR, but the BE fare dropped so low ($199) with confirmable SWU space that I canceled my award ticket and booked the BE fare. On AA.com, the systemwide link even leads to a pop-up that shows a green checkmark next to BE and PE and main cabin fares. I tried the online tool, but no dice. I called the EP desk, and she said the computer booted her because of the BE fare. I had to use the 24-hour cancel and rebook as a non-BE fare, which jumped up to $299 (still a deal, but another $100 I didn't think I needed to spend). I reached out to the X/Twitter folks, who said it was useable on a BE fare with status. Has anyone else tried using a SWU recently on an international BE fare with success?
