Based on this screen grab from the Points Guy, it looks like the center divider is actually off-center and gives the seat by the aisle less space than the seat that's closer to the center (with the table by the aisle). Is this true? Why is that? Does the narrower seat get anything to offset this disadvantage (like a longer footwell or something)? JAL's new J class has a very similar layout to D1, but the center divider is truly in the center, and all seats have equal space.
I don't think any difference in space is that noticeable. Probably the bigger benefit for most folks of the "center" seat is the distance from the aisle. The "aisle" seat might actually be slightly better for me as at ~2m tall I barely fit in these seats in lie flat mode and seem to sleep a little better in the aisle ones than the center ones with a little more space to bend at the waist when on my side. There is also the side of the table to consider--some folks (e.g., Mrs. WFBF) strongly prefer to have the table on their dominant hand side for ergonomic reasons.
That said, all these seats are way better than the non suite D1 seats and I think I've sat in all the various permutations on the 350-900s.
