It's a vicious circle. The security staff encourage people to not pack in belongings so more trays are required and then once trays are sent off for secondary it backs up. I was in there just now on a flight with similar tray back logs and the staff seemed to be doing their best given the circumstances.
On a side note, straight into the Escape lounge on PriorityPass before my FR flight!
