Agree. Despite much gnashing of teeth by FTers and readers of other sites, BA’s strategy must be to sit tight and play a long game. Apart from anything else, if things really do go south, there will be much jockeying within BA’s management team to avoid being blamed if things turn out badly. Only time will tell.
Also agree. It's also far too early to tell what impact this will have. They'll only respond if bookings or profits are down for the whole year. Though I wouldn't be surprised if we see double tier points offers being awarded for BA Holidays and perhaps tweaking the number of points awarded per pax on a group or family booking. Or triple or quadruple points if booking First? Much as I dislike it, this new scheme does have more options and flexibility for BA to dish out more 'rewards' and at some point someone in Waterside will realise the new 'Club' isn't incentivising enough premium leisure travellers and they'll act accordingly. Will they do a complete
volte-face on the scheme and go back to BAEC? No...
