You were advocating that as it's spend there should b more flexibility on how points get split. The counter argument from others is that the spender is also part of this, end of they day they are the ones that paid the money.
So even if they are not a traveller they should also have a say. Which is the can of worms that people are suggesting would be opened. As this could lead to the spender deciding to allocate all points to themselves.
Of course this is not what you were advocating for. You were advocating for a solution which benefits yourself. The point others are making is that this can open up all sorts of loop holes.
End of the day this is pointless discussion. BA has provided the rules, and this is it. They might change them, however I doubt it will be based on this discussion here.
So best thing is to just accept it is what it is, and act accordingly. If things change then also change your approach.
